Rashmika Mandanna, who is preoccupied with releasing her new horror-comedy Thamma, has finally responded to the age-old rumors of being “banned” from Kannada cinema. During an open interview with Good News Kannada, the actress shrugged off the rumors and asked individuals not to speculate based on social media reports.
Queried about the recent Kannada blockbuster Kantara: Chapter 1, Rashmika said that even though she didn’t get a chance to watch the film when it was fresh, she watched it and even messaged the team. “I hadn’t watched the film in the first 2–3 days after its release. But I watched it recently and texted the team. They sent a ‘Thank you’ message as well,” she said.
Clarifying the ban rumors directly, Rashmika smiled and replied, “I have not been banned so far. So, yeah…” She then explained that a lot of what is presumed about celebrities is through half-knowledge. “See, the world does not see what’s inside. God knows we cannot put a camera on our private lives. Also, we are not those people who put our messages on the internet,” she explained.
She further emphasised the importance of maintaining a strong sense of self in an industry that often gets clouded by public opinion. “One cannot live according to others’ opinions. Now, what people say about our professional life, we’ll consider it and work on it. But not everything people say is the whole truth,” she stated, highlighting the disconnect between perception and reality.
In the meanwhile, Rashmika is also making headlines over her private life. Gossip surrounding her engagement to long-time speculated beau Vijay Deverakonda has sent fans into a tizzy, although both the actors have kept mum. Vijay’s entourage has confirmed, however, that the pair are set to tie the knot in February 2026.
On the professional front, Rashmika is coming back to cinemas with Thamma, which is a romantic horror-comedy, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. The movie is a part of Maddock Horror Comedy Universe (MHCU) and has Ayushmann Khurrana in the male lead role. The movie also boasts a star-studded cast like Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Paresh Rawal, Sathyaraj, and Faisal Malik. The movie also features cameos by Varun Dhawan, Nora Fatehi, and Malaika Arora.
