Kamal Haasan is gearing up for the release of the highly anticipated movie Hindustani 2. The megastar will reprise his iconic role as Senapathi from the 1996 film Indian. Known for his camaraderie with fellow megastar Rajinikanth, Haasan’s recent hints about a potential collaboration have sparked excitement among fans.
In an interview with Pinkvilla, Haasan was asked about the possibility of working with Rajinikanth. He responded, “We talk about that every 10 years. When I refurbished my office and made it into a three-story building, I remember the scene because, in the same streets, I had Rajini pillion riding on my motorcycle and talking about our future. Cut to 40 years later, we are standing on the 4th floor of a building which was not there back then and he said we should do a movie at least now. I said Raaj Kamal is always ready and that’s the last discussion we had about making a movie together.”
Haasan further elaborated, “The thing is we shouldn’t think about our remuneration nor our status in the film. We must just go ahead and take that ride like we did 50 years ago, back on that motorcycle. Then you will enjoy the film; otherwise, only we will enjoy the film.”
Hindustani 2, also known as Indian 2, is a sequel to the 1996 film Indian, marking Kamal Haasan’s return as the vigilante Senapathi. Directed by S Shankar and produced by Lyca Productions, the political thriller is set to hit theaters worldwide on July 12, 2024.
On the work front, Kamal Haasan recently starred in the sci-fi dystopian film Kalki 2898 AD, alongside Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, and Amitabh Bachchan. In Nag Ashwin’s directorial, Haasan played the role of Supreme, a menacing totalitarian leader. He has an exciting lineup of projects, including Thug Life, KH 237, Vikram 2, and Indian 3, among others.
