Naga Chaitanya and Samantha Ruth Prabhu strongly criticized Telangana Minister Konda Surekha for her recent comments linking their divorce to senior Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leader KT Rama Rao (KTR). Surekha had alleged that KTR played a role in the couple’s separation, which prompted a sharp response from the actors.
Naga Chaitanya dismissed the minister’s claim as “false, ridiculous, and unacceptable,” emphasizing that the decision to divorce was a mutual one made after thoughtful consideration due to differing life goals. He also expressed disappointment over the exploitation of celebrities’ personal lives for media attention, calling it “shameful.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu also responded, urging the minister to respect her privacy and not drag her personal matters into political battles. She clarified that the divorce was amicable, based on mutual consent, and had no political motivations. Samantha expressed concern over the trivialization of her journey as a woman and asked for restraint from speculation.
Veteran Telugu actor Nagarjuna Akkineni, Naga Chaitanya’s father, also weighed in, labeling the remarks as “irrelevant and false” and requesting that Konda Surekha retract her statement, stressing the importance of respecting people’s privacy, especially those who stay away from politics.
As the issue gained traction, Konda Surekha clarified that her comments were aimed at criticizing the “belittling of women” by a political leader, not to offend Samantha. She retracted her comments and offered an apology to Samantha and her fans if they were hurt by her remarks.
