Superstar Rajinikanth has officially announced that his much-awaited movie Jailer 2 will be released only after June 2026. Talking to the media at the airport while traveling to Kerala for a new shooting schedule, the actor said, “I am currently shooting for the Jailer 2. It will be a 6-day schedule. I believe the film will be completed by June next year, so the release will be after that.”
This is the first official word on the timeline of the film, ending months of speculation.
What Jailer 2 Has in Store
Nelson Dilipkumar directs Jailer 2, which returns Rajinikanth as ‘Tiger’ Muthuvel Pandian, but this time threatened by even larger menaces. Ramya Krishnan, Yogi Babu, and Mirnaa reprise their roles, while additions such as SJ Suryah, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and Anna Rajan will create new dynamics.
The sequel includes cameos and guest appearances by Shiva Rajkumar, Mohanlal, Nandamuri Balakrishna, and Mithun Chakraborty, and it is a pure star cast. The music composer Anirudh Ravichander returns, and he is likely to come up with another high-energy score.

From Blockbuster to Sequel
The original Jailer (2023) became a huge box office success, reinstating Rajinikanth’s mass following and Nelson’s direction skills. The sequel was announced in January 2025 with a teaser promotion featuring Rajinikanth, Nelson, and Anirudh that brought gigantic excitement among fans.
