Actress Shehnaaz Gill is all ready to return to Punjabi cinema with her new film Ikk Kudi, hitting theatres on September 19. The actress made the announcement on Instagram, revealing the title poster and expressing her excitement.
IkkKudi, there’s one girl’s story. Releasing in theaters near you on 19th September,” she captioned, giving a glimpse of the theme of the film as a relatable and emotional struggle of a young girl.
Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions is going to release the film internationally, lending huge weight to the endeavor. Johar also posted the news on his Instagram Stories, endorsing Shehnaaz’s foray into meaningful regional content.
A Story of Struggles and Self-Discovery
Ikk Kudi is directed and written by Amarjit Singh Saron, who has been working in Punjabi films. Shehnaaz not only plays the central role but also co-produces the film with Kaushal Joshi and the director himself.
The film is being produced under the flags of Raaya Picturez, Amor Films, and Shehnaaz Gill Productions. The first poster depicts Shehnaaz in a perplexed, contemplative state, suggesting a female-led narrative about social pressures and marital issues.
Shehnaaz’s Evolving Career
Shehnaaz Gill initially made the announcement of the movie in November last year, posting behind-the-scenes pictures on the first day of shoot. She had shared how thrilled she was to start this new chapter in Punjabi cinema.
