Malayalam actor Unni Mukundan has found himself at the center of controversy following an assault allegation made by Vipin Kumar, who claims to be the actor’s former manager. Vipin recently filed a police complaint, accusing Unni of physically attacking him. The news quickly sparked criticism across social media and various public forums, prompting the actor to issue an official statement denying the charges.
Actor Denies Allegations, Clarifies Relationship
In his statement, Unni Mukundan categorically denied all the accusations, asserting that Vipin Kumar was never his personal manager. He clarified that their association began in 2018, when Vipin introduced himself as a Public Relations Officer (PRO). Their interaction, according to Unni, was purely professional and limited in scope.
Allegations of Unprofessional Conduct
Unni further elaborated that during the shooting of his film Marco, Vipin had a public altercation with a crew member, which caused disruptions on set. The actor also claimed he had received multiple complaints about Vipin’s behavior, including spreading gossip and interfering in work matters. More seriously, Unni accused Vipin of unlawfully accessing his digital data and threatening to defame him.
The actor called the entire incident baseless and politically motivated, suggesting that individuals envious of his rising career are attempting to tarnish his image. He stated that CCTV footage exists which will support his claims and prove his innocence.
The Trigger: Social Media Post?
The controversy reportedly escalated after Vipin praised actor Tovino Thomas’ film Narivetta on social media. He alleges that this led to a violent response from Unni Mukundan. While Unni continues to face backlash online, he remains firm that the accusations are part of a larger smear campaign.
The matter is currently under investigation.
