SS Rajamouli’s highly anticipated film starring Mahesh Babu, Prithviraj Sukumaran and Priyanka Chopra has officially been titled “Varanasi.” The announcement was made during the grand GlobeTrotter event in Hyderabad on November 15, where the makers also unveiled the film’s first teaser. Days after the event, Priyanka Chopra shared an appreciation post on Instagram for her co-stars and the celebrated director, expressing her excitement about being part of the project.

Priyanka posted a series of photos, including a cheerful selfie with Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran, as well as a group shot featuring herself and her friend Tamanna Dutt. In her caption, she wrote about the privilege of working with two iconic stars from the Telugu and Malayalam film industries and collaborating with SS Rajamouli. She added that promoting the film with international media nearly a year before its release has been an “incredibly exhilarating” experience.

Sharing her enthusiasm, Priyanka wrote, “Seeing their response and the excitement already building is truly amazing. By God’s grace, we will live up to your expectations. Jai Shri Ram.” She also tagged Rajamouli, Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj in the post. Shortly after, the official X handle of Varanasi reposted the images, calling the trio “the faces of a story that’s about to travel the world.”

In the film, Priyanka Chopra plays the role of Mandakini, while Prithviraj portrays the antagonist Kumbha. Mahesh Babu’s first look as Rudhra was revealed at the GlobeTrotter event along with the teaser.

The teaser offers a striking glimpse of Rudhra—bloodied, holding a trishul, and riding a bull—signalling an intense and larger-than-life character. Hints within the teaser, including the tags #GlobeTrotter and #TimeTrotter, suggest that the film will explore themes of time travel, adding to the growing curiosity surrounding Varanasi.
