TV actor Ankit Gupta, known for his roles in Udaariyaan, Junooniyatt, and his stint on Bigg Boss 16, recently shared the real reason behind his shift to a vegetarian lifestyle. In a candid conversation with filmmaker Farah Khan during her YouTube vlog, Ankit revealed that a major health scare made him re-evaluate his eating habits and lifestyle.
Health Emergency Sparked Lifestyle Change
During the vlog, Farah was surprised to learn that Ankit had turned vegetarian, especially after planning to cook her famous Tawa Chicken. Ankit responded with a smile, saying, “I’ve turned vegetarian, but will eat chicken since you’re making it.” He then explained the real reason for the change. “It wasn’t for religious reasons. I had a gastric and panic attack that led to hospitalisation,” he said. Describing the experience, Ankit recalled, “You feel breathless, your BP shoots up, and it feels like you can’t breathe.”

Since the incident, the actor has taken charge of his health. “I’m on a programme where I monitor and share what I eat and drink throughout the day,” he added, emphasizing the importance of being mindful of one’s health.

Bigg Boss Wasn’t His First Choice
Ankit also opened up about his unexpected entry into Bigg Boss 16. “I didn’t choose Bigg Boss, I was sent,” he said. At the time, he was wrapping up Udaariyaan and waiting for Junooniyatt to begin production. With limited opportunities available, he was presented with three options: Khatron Ke Khiladi (already underway), Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa (not a fit), and Bigg Boss. After several rounds of discussions over three to four weeks, he finally agreed.
