Almost nine years since her contentious departure from Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai, actress Shilpa Shinde is said to be in negotiations for making a grand return to the show. The makers have allegedly approached Shilpa to take over Shubhangi Atre’s place as the fan-favourite Angoori Bhabhi, says a viral report. Although negotiations are still on, the decision is expected shortly.
A production source informed ETimes, “Yes, there are discussions to bring back Shilpa as Angoori Bhabhi, and everyone hopes the deal comes through soon. It was decided since the team feels the show is in need of a comeback.”. After ten years of successful operation, the channel is keen to introduce new characters and elements to revamp ‘Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai.'” The source also disclosed that a new set is being built and that production for Bhabhi Ji Ghar Par Hai 2.0 is likely to start by mid-December.
Shilpa Shinde became popular as Angoori Bhabhi, the innocent and lovable character she played, made her a household name. But her sudden exit from the show in March 2016 created a huge controversy. Shilpa had charged the makers with “mental torture” and alleged she was being compelled to put her signature on an exclusivity agreement that kept her bound from doing any other work. She also filed a complaint about non-payment of dues and discrimination in terms of staff deployment.
In response, the production house issued her a legal notice for breach of contract, accusing her of unprofessional behavior.
Since her departure from the show, Shilpa has featured in hardly any projects, including Bigg Boss 11, where she was declared as the winner, and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14. She had a cameo in Maddam Sir in 2023. Fans are now eagerly waiting for confirmation regarding her long-awaited comeback in the role that made her a television legend.
