Music composer Amaal Mallik, currently making waves with his emotional and grounded presence on Bigg Boss 19, opened up in the latest episode about the personal and professional challenges he has faced in the industry—including doubts about the originality of his music.
Facing Accusations of Lack of Originality
In a conversation with fellow contestant Tanya Mittal, Amaal was asked whether his father, Daboo Malik, composes music on his behalf. Tanya said, “Jhooth bol rahe ho tum, khud se kaise aa sakta hai itna?” suggesting his success is too early to be earned independently. Amaal responded calmly, “Kya pata, diya hoga upar wale ne (Maybe it’s God-gifted).”
Tanya persisted, saying, “Composers budhe hote hain, Papa hi banate honge” (Composers are usually older; your father must be doing it). Amaal then revealed that even his own uncle, widely believed to be Anu Malik, has doubted his talent.
Family Doubts and Industry Setbacks
Amaal shared that his uncle’s assistant once told him, “Your uncle thinks your father composes your songs.” Though the show muted the uncle’s name, fans quickly picked up on the reference. Amaal strongly responded, “Aakhri dum tak kehunga, maine hi banaya hai har ek gaana” (Till my last breath, I’ll say I’ve created every song with my blood, sweat, and soul).

He further revealed that he’s often been removed from major film projects due to industry politics. “Star ya producer ne nikal diya… koi baat nahi, phir se hit dunga” (Stars or producers dropped me, but I’ll deliver another hit—they always come back).
