Television actress Dipika Kakar, who is being treated for stage 2 liver cancer, recently got a mammography done as part of the follow-up suggested by her doctors. The actress, who underwent a procedure to remove a tumour from the liver some 1.5 months ago, still remains strong and positive in her medical journey.
The couple returned from the gynaecologist after a visit in a recent vlog posted by her husband, actor Shoaib Ibrahim. The reason why Dipika underwent mammography was revealed by her. She said that sometime in January this year, when she was shooting for Celebrity MasterChef, she felt a sore left shoulder. Doctors were initially confused as to what was wrong, but the initial diagnosis showed enlarged lymph nodes in the left breast area.
“At that point, we were unable to figure out what was causing the pain. The initial diagnosis indicated lymph nodes in the left breast. We assumed this to be the reason,” Dipika explained. She continued that a second opinion also hinted at a possible shoulder muscle injury. Her physicians had recommended a precautionary mammography then, followed by a follow-up after three months.

“Nothing appeared alarming, but the doctor still asked us to do the mammography again in three months for safety,” Dipika said. Her diagnosis of liver cancer, surgery, and recovery process, however, pushed back the follow-up scan.

Now, after successfully getting the repeat mammography done, Shoaib assured that the reports are normal and the lymph nodes have disappeared. “Fortunately, everything is okay now,” he said with relief and gratitude.
