Elvish Yadav Issues Apology for Racist Comments Against Chum Darang

Popular YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav has landed in controversy after making racist remarks against Bigg Boss 18 contestant and actress Chum Darang. The National Commission for Women (NCW) has taken serious note of the incident and summoned Elvish for questioning. The issue stems from a video that surfaced in February, where Elvish, during a podcast with fellow contestant Rajat Dalal, mocked Chum’s name and identity using derogatory language.

In the clip, he said, “Karanveer ko pakka COVID tha kyunki Chum kisko pasand aati hai bhai, itna taste kiska kharab hota hai! Aur Chum ke toh naam mein hi ashleelta hai… Naam Chum aur kaam Gangubai Kathiawadi mein kiya hai.” The insensitive remarks triggered massive backlash online, with netizens demanding accountability.

Elvish Issues Public Apology

After appearing before the NCW on Tuesday, Elvish addressed the media and expressed regret for his remarks. In a video shared by ANI on X, he stated, “Jaise jaise hum life mein grow karte hain, maturity aati hai. Bohot log mere intentions nahi samajh paye.” He acknowledged the impact of his words and said, “If people felt hurt by my statements, I must have said something wrong. I’ve apologised inside and I truly have nothing personal against Chum.”

He emphasized that he holds no grudges and sincerely apologized if his comments hurt Chum or anyone else. “Especially to Chum, I’m sorry. It wasn’t my intention to offend,” he added.
