Comedian-actor Kapil Sharma may soon be granted police protection in Mumbai following a second shocking shooting outside his café in Surrey, Canada. The incident has sparked serious security concerns, prompting Mumbai police to review CCTV footage from Kapil’s building and assess potential threats to his life.
According to IANS, officials are on high alert and the Crime Branch is actively investigating whether any gang members have attempted surveillance near Kapil’s residence or shooting sets. After the first attack in July, Kapil was questioned about possible extortion threats, but he denied receiving any. Now, following the second incident, he is expected to be questioned again, particularly about threats posted on social media.
Second Firing Linked to Gang Activity
The latest shooting occurred on Thursday morning, with a now-viral video capturing over 25 gunshots fired at Kap’s Café, which Kapil owns with his wife Ginni Chatrath. This marks the second attack in less than a month. Authorities suspect the involvement of the Laddi gang, which is believed to be associated with the banned Khalistani terrorist outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
A Facebook post allegedly made by Goldy Dhillon from the Lawrence Bishnoi gang has surfaced, claiming responsibility for the attack. In the post, Dhillon warns Kapil Sharma, stating that if his calls are ignored again, further action will be taken—this time possibly in Mumbai. The authenticity of the post is still being verified by the police.
