Shivangi Joshi and Kushal Tandon first met on the sets of Sony TV’s Barsatein – Mausam Ka Pyar in 2023. Their on-screen chemistry soon translated into a close off-screen bond, eventually turning into a romantic relationship. However, by June 2025, Kushal confirmed that the two had parted ways. Recently, renewed speculation around their breakup resurfaced after a cryptic post by Kushal about love and respect, triggering claims that his relationship with Shivangi had been one-sided.
These reports did not sit well with the actor. In a now-deleted Instagram story, Kushal sharply criticised media outlets for spreading false and unverified claims about his personal life. “To the media houses circulating unverified and baseless stories about me. I understand that using my name drives clicks… However, it cannot come at the expense of my self-respect and dignity,” he wrote. He went on to call the rumours that he was in a “one-sided relationship” or that he “hasn’t moved on” completely absurd, questioning the intentions of those publishing such stories.
Kushal further urged the media to adhere to fundamental journalistic ethics. He expressed frustration over fabricated articles allegedly based on an Instagram post that, according to him, never existed. “Exercising even the most basic journalistic ethics should not be too much to expect,” he stated. He concluded with a stern warning: “The next time you publish something unverified about me, my response will not end with merely calling it out in a post.”
Kushal had initially revealed the breakup himself in an Instagram story posted around 2:30 a.m. in June 2025, writing, “Me and Shivangi (Joshi) are not together anymore. It’s been 5 months.” The post, however, was deleted minutes later.

The buzz surrounding Kushal and Shivangi began during Barsatein – Mausam Pyaar Ka, which premiered in July 2023 and ended in February 2024. Their chemistry both on and off screen had sparked widespread curiosity about their real-life relationship.
