TV pair Dipika Kakar and Shoaib Ibrahim were in the limelight after the horrific Pahalgam terror attack. The duo had been on a holiday in Kashmir and returned on April 22, hours before the attack took place. Subsequently, they let their fans know they were safe through social media. Shoaib’s post announcing a vlog soon after the attack, though, was subjected to widespread criticism online.
Most netizens condemned Shoaib for endorsing material at such a critical moment, and there was widespread criticism among entertainment news communities.
Shoaib Reacts to the Backlash
In his recent video, Shoaib Ibrahim responded to the outrage and explained what had actually happened. He stated that the terror attack happened when they were in the air, traveling by plane from Srinagar to Delhi on 22nd April. Because of network limitations, they did not know the magnitude of what had occurred until they arrived at their destination.
Shoaib explained, “At the time, we heard only that one or two were hurt. That is all that we heard, and based on that, I felt that it was best to let everyone know that we were safe and so I posted the article.”
“Why Are We Always Singled Out?”
Shoaib also asked why he and Dipika are targeted most of the time on the internet. He noted that vloggers kept creating content and movie promotions continued normally, while he and Dipika were unjustly criticized.
