The legendary TV series Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi, which revolutionized the face of Indian television, is returning. Directed by the brilliant Ektaa Kapoor, this series was a game-changer in the business, winning the hearts of audiences and becoming a cultural reference point. The Return of Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Thi and Smriti Irani
Ektaa Kapoor just made the exciting revelation that the popular show is back with a new twist. In a recent event, she announced that the new season will have about 150 episodes. Kapoor said that the renewal of the show was driven by the fans’ love, and she stated, “The affection we have for this program brought everyone involved back together to finish those 150 episodes and reach that milestone of 2000 episodes. This show deserves it.”
As for Smriti Irani reprising her role as Tulsi Virani, Ektaa teased, “We’re bringing politics into entertainment, or rather, a politician into entertainment,” hinting at Irani’s return. After transitioning to a successful political career, Smriti has been away from acting since 2012.
Smriti Irani’s Journey from Actress to Politician
Irani’s acting career consisted of iconic roles such as Sita in the 2002 mythological drama Ramayana, and she also appeared in the hit show Thodi Si Zameen Thoda Sa Aasmaan (2007) and Maniben.com in 2009. But after plunging into politics, she decided to retire from the screen. In 2012, she justified her decision, stating, “When I joined politics and became an MP, I left my acting profession. If you wish to be taken seriously in your political life, you must commit yourself fully to it.”
Today, after years out of the limelight, Smriti Irani will return as the popular Tulsi Virani, to the delight of fans everywhere.
