Indeed this was the comment that a fan belched out loudly after watching her item number- 'Dilliwala Ghaghra' in YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI while watching it in Indore. Walking away after watching the movie four patrons ahead also totally disapproved of the item number that Madhuri Dixit did in this film. Now what would these fans say when they watch her enact a love making scene in DEDH ISHQIYA along with co-star Naseeruddin Shah.
For the actors who have been the lead stars, to make a comeback deconstructing the image that public had in their minds when these stars enacted various roles at the prime of their career, is the requiem, but Madhuri Dixit is different. The kind of pure and pristine image that she had created, in spite of doing various suggestive numbers underlined the fact that Madhuri Dixit has had a different image in the mind and heart of his fans, but it seems the immense credit that Madhuri Dixit has had could come unstuck if she is going to do the item numbers of the kind that she did in YJHD full of sexual innuendos and love-making that he is doing with Naseeruddin Shah in DEDH ISHQIYA.
These kinds of steps i.e. taking recourse to item songs and doing love making scenes without giving it a second thought is an option that actors who are trying to make their presence felt take recourse to, but it is not at all required to be done by Madhuri Dixit. Madhuri needs to be reminded about the fact that when she has entered into a kissing scene with Vinod Khanna in DAYAVAN and the suggestive love making scene in VARDI that she indulged with in VARDI and Madhuri Dixit brought opprobrium of the fans all over.
Madhuri Dixit could have perhaps taken this decision seeking inspiration from the way career of Vidya Balan is progressing especially her role in ISHQIYA and THE DIRTY PICTURE. But Madhuri need not seek inspiration from Vidya Balan, as she has had a trail blazing career and immense goodwill and she needs to capitalize on it rather than chart a course which would do her goodwill and popularity more harm than good.
