The major release of the week, MAHABHARAT (animated), could not achieve much, due to the DHOOM 3 wave, despite good and lavish production values.Although it released on a normal (non-holiday) Friday, the Aamir, Katrina, Abhishek and Uday starrer, DHOOM 3, has smashed most records in sight by huge margins!

As per the initial estimates, after a century weekend (including paid previews), Yash Raj Films’ Vijay Krishna Acharya directed, DHOOM 3, continued its merry run during the weekdays as well. The film ended the first week netting a humongous 175 crore (to be validated) from India. The dubbed version(s) added another 10-11 crore. In the process, DHOOM 3 has beaten the previous best opening week record of CHENNAI EXPRESS (152 crore) by about 23 crores.
DHOOM 3 is also on an inspired run in the overseas, and (as has been already mentioned in our regular box-office report), the film grossed $10m during the opening weekend itself. What we would like to add here is that the overseas numbers have not been updated due to the Christmas holidays, but as per the sketchy details at hand, DHOOM 3 is continuing its superb run and smashing records left, right and centre in many overseas circuits.
