Netflix has finally launched the trailer for the long-awaited documentary series The Greatest Rivalry: India vs Pakistan. Starting off its historic premiere February 7, 2025, this documentary tells the story of one of the most intense rivalries in cricket, featuring superstars such as Virender Sehwag, Shoaib Akhtar, Sourav Ganguly, and Sunil Gavaskar.
The rivalry is steeped in history and politics, extending to a layer beyond cricket. After the last bilateral series in 2012-13, the two teams have faced each other only in ICC tournaments or multi-nation events, which makes every clash remain iconic.

2 minutes and 13 seconds of guesswork were seen in the promo of the documentary with some great players, from both sides, recalling the previous matches. When you say “There are 1,00,000 people inside waiting. And another 1,00,000 people outside,” it’s very difficult to judge what he meant, said Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast bowler.
Sourav Ganguly took a trip down memory lane and spoke humorously of the so-called “Friendship Tour,” saying, “How does it ever get to be a Friendship Tour when you are watching Shoaib Akhtar come at you at 150 per hour?”
The film is directed by Chandradev Bhagat and Stewart Sugg. It is produced by Grey Motion Pictures. The documentary will open with a truly new focus on cricket’s fiercest rivalry. This blend of historical context, personal stories, and unforgettable moments on the ground guarantees values that cricket lovers worldwide must definitely see.
This is, therefore, the right time to pump more excitement for what could possibly be the most-awaited clash in cricket as the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 opens on February 19, leading to the final match between India and Pakistan on the last day of the tour.
