The first reviews of Kesari Chapter 2: The Untold Story of Jallianwala Bagh are in, and they’re overwhelmingly positive. Ahead of its official release on April 18, 2025, a special screening of the film was held in New Delhi, drawing praise from political leaders and prominent personalities alike. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Ananya Panday and R Madhavan in lead roles and is directed by Karan Singh Tyagi. It is based on the book The Case That Shook The Empire by Raghu Palat and Pushpa Palat.
Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Hardeep Singh Puri, was among the first to share his thoughts on social media. He described Kesari Chapter 2 as “a powerful, deeply moving and evocative cinematic ode to India’s freedom movement and to the martyrs of Jallianwala Bagh.” Puri lauded the film’s gripping narrative, especially the courtroom drama where Akshay Kumar plays the role of lawyer Sir Chettur Sankaran Nair, a real-life figure who challenged the British Raj in court following the Jallianwala Bagh massacre.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta also attended the screening and shared her admiration for the film in a heartfelt post on X. Writing in Hindi, she praised the movie for showcasing the spirit of “patriotism, courage, and sacrifice” in an emotionally resonant way. She congratulated Akshay Kumar, R Madhavan, and the entire team, while thanking Union Minister Puri for the invitation.
Rahul Sharma, entrepreneur and husband of actress Asin Thottumkal, echoed similar sentiments. Taking to X, he wrote, “We’ve all read about Jallianwala Bagh in history books, but nothing prepares you for the truth I witnessed today at the special screening of #Kesari2. I’m short of words for how deeply moved I am. This is content, deserving of a National Award.” He further praised the stellar performances by both Akshay Kumar and R Madhavan.
