Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has finally opened up about his surprising decision to walk out of the highly anticipated Hera Pheri 3, days after Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films, reportedly issued a legal notice demanding ₹25 crore in damages for his abrupt exit.
Fans Left Disappointed by Sudden Exit
News of Rawal’s departure initially broke last week, leaving fans of the iconic comedy franchise heartbroken. At the time, the actor confirmed he was no longer part of the project but refrained from revealing the reasons. Speculation swirled, with reports suggesting the actor left simply because he “did not feel like” continuing with the film.
In a recent interview with Mid-Day, Rawal addressed the speculation and confirmed that his decision was a personal one. “I know it came as a shock to many,” he said. “We three make a great combination with Priyadarshanji directing us, but the fact is that I opted out because today I don’t feel like a part of it. It is final for the time being. I always say never say never for anything. One cannot predict what happens in the future.”
No Creative or Financial Conflict
Putting to rest any rumors of behind-the-scenes issues, Rawal emphasized that his decision had nothing to do with creative differences or financial disagreements. He went on to express admiration for director Priyadarshan, under whom the original Hera Pheri (2000) and its sequel became cult classics.
“I love Priyadarshan and have great respect and faith in him as a director,” Rawal stated. “We have done wonderful movies together in the past and will continue to do so. There were no creative differences, nor is there a possibility of having any with him. No amount of money compares to the love and respect of my audience. Right now, I just felt it is a role that I don’t want to do, that’s all.”

Future of Hera Pheri 3 Now Uncertain
The film, which began production in April, brings back Akshay Kumar and Suniel Shetty, with Akshay also producing the project after acquiring the rights from original producer Feroz Nadiadwala. With Rawal’s exit, the future of his beloved character Baburao Ganpatrao Apte remains uncertain, raising questions about how the filmmakers will address the void left by his absence.
