SAIF ALI KHAN’S HUMSHAKALS FLASHBACK! Sara Ali Khan’s Metro Promo Draws Comparisons—Is She Following in His Footsteps?

After stirring nostalgia with her onscreen reunion with ex-boyfriend Veer Pahariya in Sky Force, Sara Ali Khan is back this time in a radically different avatar. Her upcoming romantic anthology Metro In Dino, directed by Anurag Basu, promises more than just love stories; it offers a reinvention for the young star.

A New Look, A New Chapter

In Metro In Dino, Sara stars opposite Aditya Roy Kapur, but it’s not just their chemistry that’s grabbing attention. The actress has undergone a significant transformation for her role, donning short hair, full bangs, and geek-chic glasses. Her soft, minimal aesthetic is a far cry from the glamorous looks she’s known for, marking a shift toward a more understated, realistic screen presence.

Fans were quick to draw comparisons to Kriti Sanon’s look in Bhediya and Katrina Kaif’s iconic fringe from Jagga Jasoos. While flattering, the comparisons took a humorous turn when netizens began likening her appearance to her father Saif Ali Khan’s drag look in the 2014 comedy Humshakals.

“Like Father, Like Daughter” Goes Viral

What started as admiration quickly turned into playful trolling. Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) exploded with memes, side-by-side collages, and witty commentary comparing Sara’s look to Saif’s wig-and-makeup avatar from Humshakals. The internet couldn’t help but note the uncanny resemblance.

One user joked, “That’s how almost all daughters look dad versions but with frocks and makeup.” Another added, “19-20 ka hi farq hai.” Comments ranged from “Carbon copy” to “Saif’s genes are too strong.” Some even argued that Saif resembled Kareena Kapoor Khan more than his daughter: “Saif looks like a combo of Sara and Kareena,” one fan noted.

It’s worth recalling that Saif’s drag scene in Humshakals went viral years ago, with even Kareena calling his look “beautiful” in a throwback video.

Sara Steps Into Anurag Basu’s World

Despite the internet’s cheeky commentary, Sara’s performance in Metro In Dino is being applauded for breaking her previous screen mold. This marks her first collaboration with acclaimed filmmaker Anurag Basu, known for crafting nuanced, multi-layered narratives. The ensemble cast also includes Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sensharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, and Saswata Chatterjee.
