The Bengal Files Teaser: Vivek Agnihotri Unveils a Chilling Look at Bengal’s Dark Past

Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri, who has brought suppressed Indian history into the limelight through his powerful films, is here with the third and final part of his ‘Files’ trilogy The Bengal Files: Right to Life. Initially titled The Delhi Files, the title of the film has now been modified to indicate its deeper inclination towards the history of Bengal. The teaser, which was released on June 12, has already created a stir with its eerie visuals and powerful emotional tone.

Following the success of The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022), Agnihotri’s latest venture promises to be equally stirring. The teaser offers glimpses of dark corridors, intense performances, and a solemn recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution by actor Mithun Chakraborty, who sports a rugged look with a white beard. His parched voice, as though having a burnt tongue, contributes to the eerie ambiance, suggesting pain and reality the movie endeavors to uncover.

The movie features Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, and Darshan Kumar, and is produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi under I Am Buddha Productions, in association with Tej Narayan Agarwal.

Sharing the teaser on social media, Agnihotri wrote, “If Kashmir hurt you, Bengal will haunt you,” reinforcing the emotional gravity the film aims to deliver. The film explores a tragic yet lesser-known episode in Indian history, continuing Agnihotri’s commitment to thought-provoking, truth-seeking cinema.

The Bengal Files: Right to Life is scheduled for release in cinemas on September 5, 2025, and is already turning out to be one of the most highly anticipated political dramas of the year.
