Tragedy Strikes: Salman Khan Calls Off Event After Devastating Ahmedabad Plane Crash

Bollywood hunk Salman Khan cancelled his planned appearance at a high-profile function in Mumbai on Thursday in the wake of the disastrous plane crash near Ahmedabad airport. The move was made as a sign of respect for the victims and their families from the calamitous accident.

Salman was scheduled to take part in a media interaction at Hotel Taj Lands End, Mumbai, for Indian Supercross Racing League (ISRL), of which he is the brand ambassador. The event was meant to launch Season 2 of the league and feature media interactions. As soon as the news of the crash came out, Khan’s team immediately decided to cancel his participation.

Salman reportedly told close sources that he felt great sorrow and believed it was not proper to engage in festivities while the nation was grieving such a tragic accident. “It is not appropriate to smile or encourage something in such a moment when the nation is grieved by such an accident,” he said.

The accident was of Air India flight AI-171, which was headed from Ahmedabad to London. The plane allegedly crashed during takeoff, disappearing off radar at an altitude of 600 feet, and then crashed in Meghnani Nagar. The crash resulted in a huge fire and thick black clouds of smoke, with more than 240 people on board, according to reports.
