The Akshay Kumar-led Housefull 5 has witnessed a hopeful upward curve in its second weekend at the box office. Having raked in ₹5.75 crore on its second Friday, the movie leaped to ₹9.10 crore on Saturday and then to an approximate ₹11 crore on Sunday. This makes the second weekend collection stand at ₹26 crore, pushing its 10-day domestic box office collection to ₹140.25 crore.
A Mixed Bag: Growth Amidst Expectations
Although the second-weekend increase is reassuring, business experts observe that the overall box office run of Housefull 5 is mediocre, considering it’s the fifth installment of a lucrative franchise. The movie should cross the ₹150 crore mark at the end of its second week, and if it continues to run steady, it could make between ₹175 crore and ₹190 crore in India. While this would save the producers from losses, substantial profits may still be elusive.
The movie will now confront new competition from Sitaare Zameen Par at the next weekend, and that too with a possibility of screen reduction. Yet, it should have enough screens to continue a stable, though weaker, run.
Global Collections and Outlook
Worldwide, Housefull 5 has earned around ₹216 crore in the second weekend. The film now aims for a worldwide finish in the ₹270 crore bracket. A domestic finish around ₹200 crore and worldwide collections of ₹300 crore would have made it a “clean hit,” but even as it comes short, the movie remains a humble success—particularly when juxtaposed with Akshay Kumar’s post-pandemic output.
