Directed by R.S. Prasanna and scripted by Divy Nidhi Sharma, Sitaare Zameen Par stars Aamir Khan as a basketball coach who works with a team of kids with special needs. Genelia D’Souza plays his wife. The warm message and decent storytelling of the film have struck a chord with audiences, helping it do well at the box office.
The movie opened with a great bang, raking in Rs 27.25 crore on Sunday itself. While Monday dipped with a collection of Rs 8.27 crore, its overall India net collection is Rs 66.42 crore. Overseas too, Sitaare Zameen Par has already made Rs 95.75 crore and should reach the Rs 100 crore mark soon.
With stirring music by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and Amitabh Bhattacharya’s lyrics, the film is a strong return for Aamir post-Laal Singh Chaddha. The film has received widespread acclaim in the industry—veteran lyricist Javed Akhtar and celebrities such as Ritesh Deshmukh and Mahesh Babu were all praise for its emotional depth and good message.
