Comedian and Bigg Boss 17 winner Munawar Faruqui has finally broken his silence on his intimate wedding with makeup artist Mehzabeen Coatwala, which took place in May 2024. In a heartfelt chat with Farah Khan on her YouTube channel, Munawar revealed that the marriage was a deeply personal decision, made just a month in advance, and largely motivated by his desire to be with his son, Mikael.
A Decision Rooted in Fatherhood
Speaking candidly, Munawar said the idea of marriage wasn’t pre-planned. “When I came out of Bigg Boss, I was working a lot and Mikael was living with my sister. He spent a week with me and when it was time for him to leave, I couldn’t let him go. I felt he needed me, but more than that, I needed him,” he shared emotionally.

Calling their union a “puzzle,” Munawar revealed he proposed just a day after they had the conversation. “I stayed with that thought the whole night and the next day I asked her, ‘Are you okay marrying me?’ I was just praying that Mikael could stay with me,” he said.
