Veteran actor Paresh Rawal has again made headlines on social media not for his classic performances or political observations, but for a recent confession he made about a strange healing practice that he once undertook. The actor, whose biting wit and strong opinions have been a staple of his on-screen and off-screen personas, recently responded to the outrage that followed after he disclosed that he had been drinking his own urine for medical reasons.
The Storm That Raged Over a Remark
The furore started when Paresh Rawal narrated a personal experience in an interview with The Lallantop, in which he described an incident from his life about almost 40 years ago when the late action director Veeru Devgan suggested he drink his own urine as a natural cure for healing from a leg injury. Rawal divulged that he obeyed the instructions faithfully, drinking it “like a beer” for 15 days, which purportedly speeded up his recuperation. Physicians were said to be amazed at how fast he recovered, with surprising gains being seen on X-rays.
Paresh Rawal’s Witty Response to Trolls
Not surprisingly, the comment went viral, generating bursts of jokes, memes, and backlash on the internet. Most social media users ridiculed the actor for having supported such an unusual technique. But Paresh Rawal, as expected, countered with sarcasm.
Talking to Bollywood Hungama, he joked, “I haven’t given them (urine), right? Or are they complaining because I didn’t give them? Are they like, ‘Yaar yeh akele pee gaye aur humko nahin diya?'” He further added that people were making much of a decades-old personal decision, saying, “People like to make a mountain out of a molehill. Karne do unko mazaa.”

When questioned if other practitioners of urine therapy approached him after the interview, Rawal merely replied, “A lot of people have, but I don’t want to get into it.”
Back on Screen With Akshay Kumar
On the work front, fans were overjoyed when word came through of Paresh Rawal patching up with Akshay Kumar, opening the doors to his comeback in Hera Pheri 3, with Akshay and Suniel Shetty. He will also be seen in Priyadarshan’s next horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, featuring Tabu and Akshay. Controversy or not, Paresh Rawal is unfailingly himself unapologetic, fearless, and always in the news.
