After the massive success of Kantara, acclaimed actor-director Rishab Shetty is set to lead Production No. 36, a period drama backed by Sithara Entertainments. The announcement came with a powerful poster featuring a cannon amidst a battlefield and a mysterious masked figure, hinting at a gripping tale of rebellion and war.

Set in 18th-century Bengal, the film is directed by Ashwin Gangaraju, known for Aakashavaani and mentored by Baahubali director SS Rajamouli. The project is co-produced by Fortune Four Cinemas and Srikara Studios, aiming for a major pan-Indian release. Sharing the update on social media, producer Naga Vamsi wrote,
“Not all Rebels are forged in Battle. Some are chosen by Destiny. And this is that story of a Rebel.”

An Expanding Career

Rishab Shetty was reportedly drawn to the project for its powerful script and the depth of his role. While further plot and cast details are yet to be revealed, anticipation is already high thanks to Shetty’s rising stardom.

This film adds to an already packed slate for Shetty. He is also making his Telugu debut in Jai Hanuman, part of Prasanth Varma’s mythological superhero franchise, the PVCU. The previous film, Hanu-Man, became Tollywood’s biggest hit of 2024, grossing nearly ₹300 crore.

Kantara Prequel and More

In addition, Shetty continues to work on Kantara: Chapter 1, a prequel exploring the spiritual roots of his 2022 blockbuster. The film is scheduled for release on October 2, 2025.

He will also appear in the historical epic The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Rishab Shetty, born Prashanth Shetty (7 July 1983), has become a nationally recognized figure in Indian cinema, with multiple National and State Film Awards to his name.
