The natural disaster triggered massive flash floods and mudslides, claiming the lives of four individuals and displacing many others. Approximately 130 people were rescued as emergency teams braved relentless rainfall and hazardous terrain to carry out relief operations. The incident occurred around 1:45 pm, just 4 km from the Indian Army’s Harshil camp.

The Indian Army, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) were immediately deployed to the affected areas. Meanwhile, Chinook, Mi-17 V5, ALH, and Cheetah helicopters of the Indian Air Force remain on standby at Chandigarh Air Base, ready to deliver supplies and evacuate victims as soon as weather conditions permit.

Sara Ali Khan Sends Message of Support

Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan took to social media to express her condolences and support for those affected by the calamity. In a heartfelt post shared on a black background, she wrote, “My heart goes out to everyone impacted by the incident in Uttarakhand. Praying for safety, strength and healing for all,” ending the message with folded hands and a blue heart emoji.

Going beyond words, Sara also shared emergency contact numbers issued by the Uttarkashi District Emergency Operation Centre, helping amplify access to verified rescue resources. Her compassionate gesture was lauded by fans and followers, with many praising her for using her platform responsibly during a crisis.

CM Dhami Leads Relief Efforts

Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, who cut short his Andhra Pradesh visit, immediately returned to Dehradun and began overseeing operations from the State Emergency Operation Centre. He emphasized that restoring electricity and connectivity in the affected regions was a top priority, and said that work was underway on a war footing.
