Following a stormy opening weekend, ‘War 2′, which features Hrithik Roshan and Jr NTR, is experiencing a perceptible decline in weekday box office collections. Produced by Ayan Mukerji, the action thriller had created a lot of buzz at the time of release as part of Yash Raj Films’ growing Spy Universe.
Weekday Decline in Collections
On its sixth day, the film raked in Rs 7.79 crore net in all languages combined in India, taking its overall collections to Rs 192.29 crore, reports trade site Sacnilk. This is a clear fall from Rs 183.50 crore it made in the first five days. The decline, especially on Tuesday, indicates that though the film had a good opening, it is not really getting that push in the weekdays.
Occupancy Patterns Across Markets
The Hindi version of the film maintained a 16.74% overall national occupancy on day six. Morning shows began at 11.71% occupancy, which scaled up to 21.77% during the afternoon. Jaipur topped the metro cities in terms of occupancy at 32%, followed by Bengaluru at 27% and NCR at 23.5%. Prominent markets such as Mumbai at 14.5%, Pune at 13%, and Hyderabad at 10% performed moderately. Ahmedabad at 9% and Surat at 6.5%, however, indicated lower interest.

The Telugu version had 15.30% overall occupancy with morning shows accounting for 14.15% and a slight increase to 16.44% in the afternoon. The Tamil version also followed the same pattern with the occupancy increasing from 16.44% during the morning to 17.08% later in the day.
Expanding the YRF Spy Universe
‘War 2’ is one of the major instalments in YRF’s Spy Universe, which boasts blockbusters such as Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathaan’ and Salman Khan’s ‘Tiger’ franchise. Besides the lead actors, the movie also stars Kiara Advani in an important role. The movie ends on a post-credits scene announcing the next instalment, entitled ‘Alpha’, in which Bobby Deol makes a cameo.
‘Alpha’ and What’s Next
The next movie, ‘Alpha’, will feature Alia Bhatt and Sharvari, and will be released in December, following YRF’s mission to create a blockbuster franchise universe full of interconnected tales and action-filled stories.
