A Name Chosen with Meaning
Deepika previously revealed that naming their daughter wasn’t immediate—it took nearly two months to settle on “Dua,” which means prayer. She described it as “a beautiful summary of what she means to us.” Both Deepika and husband Ranveer Singh have embraced parenthood fully, with Ranveer saying Deepika is “the best version of herself” and that “everything in her life now revolves around Dua.”
Privacy Breach Sparks Outrage
Despite their clear stance on keeping Dua out of the spotlight, a video leak last week sparked controversy. Filmed at Mumbai International Airport, the clip showed Dua’s face while seated on Deepika’s lap. The video, shared without consent, caused backlash online. Deepika was visibly upset, asking the person filming to stop. Fans and netizens condemned the invasion of privacy, calling it “shameful” and urging platforms to remove the footage.
Until then, paparazzi had largely respected the couple’s wishes to protect Dua’s identity.

Deepika and Ranveer, who married in 2018, formally introduced Dua’s name during Diwali with the message: “Dua: meaning a prayer.
