Rising star Aneet Padda has become a sensation following her big-screen debut in Saiyaara. With fans eager to know what’s next, new reports suggest that she has been finalised for Maddock Films’ upcoming project Shakti Shalini—a major installment in their expanding horror-comedy universe.
Has Aneet Replaced Kiara Advani?
Earlier, rumours suggested Kiara Advani was in advanced talks for the film. However, according to Pinkvilla, Maddock founder Dinesh Vijan was impressed by Aneet’s performance in Saiyaara and has been in discussions with her for over two months.
“He loved Aneet’s work and decided to mount the next chapter of the horror-comedy universe on her,” a source revealed.
The source also claimed that Aneet has completed her look test, and an official announcement is expected soon. Shakti Shalini is reportedly set to go on floors by the end of 2025.
Director Yet to Be Finalized
While the film’s director is yet to be confirmed, names like Aditya Sarpotdar (Munjya) and Ajitpal Singh are reportedly being considered. Sarpotdar is said to be the frontrunner, with a final decision expected in the coming weeks.
Maddock Responds to Casting Speculations
Amid rising speculation about Aneet potentially replacing Kiara, Maddock Films issued a clarification:
“Any reports regarding the casting of upcoming chapters, including Shakti Shalini and Maha Munjya, are purely speculative. We urge media to wait for official announcements.”
What’s Next for Maddock’s Horror Universe?
While the casting buzz continues, Maddock is preparing to release its next horror-comedy, Thama, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui. The film explores Indian folklore centered around vampires, promising another unique addition to the genre.
