Aryan Khan’s most-discussed web series The Ba*ds of Bollywood, which was released on September 18, has become a trending topic very quickly—not only for its engaging plotline and celebrity cameos, but also for the sudden resurgence of old-school Bollywood songs.
One of the popular moments of the series is Raghav Juyal singing Kaho Na Kaho to an obviously embarrassed Emraan Hashmi in a hilarious moment. Another scene though has gone viral, bringing back Bobby Deol’s all-time classic 1997 song Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela from the movie Gupt.
In the series, Bobby Deol plays Bollywood superstar Ajay Talvar. The song appears twice—once in an early party sequence, and again in a much more significant way during the show’s climax. It’s revealed that Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela was from a fictional film within the show titled Sailaab, starring Ajay. During the finale, the song is used as a narrative tool that connects Ajay’s past to Neeta, played by Mona Singh.
What really caught everyone’s attention is that Mona Singh has been digitally placed as a background dancer in the retro-themed music video—despite never having appeared in the original 1997 video. This ingenious application of VFX has created interest and nostalgia in equal proportions.

Since its feature in the finale of the show, the song has become viral on social media, with over 5 million new views on YouTube. Young audiences are seeing the upbeat tune for the first time, while old timers are relishing a throwback to the ’90s.
