Emraan Hashmi is basking in the glory of admiration for his powerful cameo in Aryan Khan’s directorial venture The Ba\ds of Bollywood. While fans are hailing his comeback to the limelight, the actor himself is prepping for a long-awaited project the sequel to his 2007 cult romantic action-drama Awarapan. Titled Awarapan 2, the sequel will reprise the emotional depth and soulful narration that made the first one a favorite among the fans.
As per a report by Pinkvilla, the movie will go on floors this week in Bangkok, with Emraan Hashmi and Disha Patani starring in the movie. A source from the production confirmed, “Awarapan 2 is going to go on floors this week in Bangkok with the two leads. The two, along with the rest of the cast, will be in Bangkok for a month.”. It’s a schedule like a marathon where more than 50 percent of the movie will be filmed.” The movie will be filmed at actual sites throughout the city, adding realism and gritty look to the story.
The music also made it official that it will be a major part of the sequel, similar to how the first film was all about a soul-stirring album. “Music plays a significant role in the Awarapan franchise, and the sequel will not let the audiences down. After the 30-day Bangkok shoot schedule, the crew will embark on the next leg of shooting in Mumbai, with the plan to complete the film by January 2026,” added the source.

The producers are looking at a big theatrical release on April 3, 2026, slotting it in a commercial holiday window. “Emraan Hashmi is keen to come back as Shivam, while Disha is eager to be part of the universe of this steamy romantic saga,” the source spilled.
The sequel was announced by Emraan himself on his birthday, along with a throwback teaser. The clip had Emraan’s Shivam standing on a boat during sunset, releasing a bird from captivity symbolically, while he emotionally speaks, “Kisi aur ki zindagi ke liye marna hi meri manzil hai” (“To die for someone else’s life is my destiny”). The teaser ended with the words, “Awarapan 2, The journey continues,” with the iconic track Tera Mera Rishta in the background.
With its strong themes of love, loss, and redemption, Awarapan 2 is poised to be among the most anticipated releases of 2026.
