The Odyssey Stays Strong At Box Office After Impressive First Monday

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey collected an estimated Rs. 9.75 crore on its first Monday, taking its India total to Rs. 78.75 crore gross.

Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey continued its successful run at the Indian box office with a steady performance on its first Monday. After earning Rs. 69 crore gross during its opening weekend, the film added an estimated Rs. 9.75 crore gross on Monday, taking its total India collection to Rs. 78.75 crore gross.

The first Monday collection represents a 50 per cent drop from the opening day, which is considered a healthy trend for a big budget film. Compared to Sunday, the collection declined by nearly 60 per cent. This is slightly better than the first Monday trend of Oppenheimer, which recorded a 62.5 per cent drop from its opening Sunday. The numbers suggest that The Odyssey is continuing to attract audiences even after a strong opening weekend.

If the film maintains its current pace, trade estimates suggest it could finish its first week with around Rs. 105 crore gross in India. Looking at the performance of Oppenheimer, which enjoyed a long and successful run, The Odyssey could eventually collect around Rs. 190 crore gross. If the film continues to perform beyond expectations in the coming weeks, crossing the Rs. 200 crore mark is also considered a realistic possibility.

A major reason behind the film’s strong performance is the popularity of Christopher Nolan among Indian audiences. Over the years, the filmmaker has built a loyal fan base through films such as Inception, The Dark Knight, Interstellar, and Oppenheimer. His films are often seen as must watch theatrical experiences, and that reputation has helped create strong demand for The Odyssey as well.

Unlike superhero or action franchises, epic historical adventures have not traditionally been among Hollywood’s biggest genres in India. Despite that, The Odyssey has managed to attract large audiences, largely because of Nolan’s name and the anticipation surrounding his latest project. The film also features a star cast including Matt Damon, Anne Hathaway, Tom Holland, and Zendaya, which has added to its appeal.

Saturday Rs. 25.25 crore

With a strong opening weekend and a stable first Monday, The Odyssey has maintained its momentum at the Indian box office. The coming weekdays and second weekend will now determine whether the film can continue its steady run and move closer to the Rs. 200 crore gross milestone.
