Tamil film DC, starring Lokesh Kanagaraj and Wamiqa Gabbi, is showing strong growth at the Indian box office. The film added Rs. 6.50 crore on its first Tuesday, taking its total collection to Rs. 36.50 crore after five days. The Tuesday figure is particularly notable because it is higher than the film’s opening day collection. DC began its theatrical run with Rs. 5 crore on Friday but has continued to record stronger numbers over the following days.
The film collected Rs. 5.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs. 7.50 crore on Saturday and Rs. 10.75 crore on Sunday. It then earned Rs. 6.50 crore on Monday and another Rs. 6.50 crore on Tuesday. This takes the five day total to Rs. 36.50 crore gross.
Based on the current trend, DC is expected to finish its first week at around Rs. 45 crore. If the film maintains its momentum, it could cross the Rs. 50 crore mark during its second weekend. Its performance during the second week will determine how much further it can go.
The film is performing particularly well in several southern markets. Tamil Nadu has contributed Rs. 11.50 crore so far, while the Telugu states have added around Rs. 10 crore.
Kerala has emerged as another strong market for the film. DC has collected Rs. 8.10 crore in the state so far. The movie opened with just Rs. 50 lakh in Kerala but recorded Rs. 2.50 crore on Sunday. On Tuesday, it added another Rs. 1.90 crore, which is four times its opening day figure.
Karnataka has contributed Rs. 4.50 crore, while the remaining Indian markets have added around Rs. 2.40 crore.
