DC Box Office: Lokesh Kanagaraj’s Film Beats Its Opening Day On Monday, Eyes Rs. 40 Crore

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC collects Rs. 6.50 crore on Day 4, taking its India total to Rs. 30 crore and putting the film on track for Rs. 40 crore this week.

Lokesh Kanagaraj’s DC is showing a strong trend at the Indian box office. The film passed its first Monday test with a better collection than its opening day. DC earned Rs. 6.50 crore on Day 4, which is 23 per cent higher than its Friday opening collection of Rs. 5.25 crore.

The film has now reached Rs. 30.00 crore gross in India after four days. Based on its current performance, DC is expected to collect around Rs. 40 crore by the end of its first week. If it manages to reach that figure, it would be a strong result for a film that opened at Rs. 5 crore.

DC has shown growth throughout its opening weekend. It collected Rs. 5.25 crore on Friday, followed by Rs. 7.50 crore on Saturday and Rs. 10.75 crore on Sunday. The film then added another Rs. 6.50 crore on Monday. The Monday figure is particularly important because it shows that the film has managed to retain a good part of its weekend audience.

The modern adaptation of Devdas, which stars Wamiqa Gabbi alongside the cast, has also performed well outside its main Tamil Nadu market. The film has collected Rs. 9.50 crore in Tamil Nadu during its first four days. Its Monday collection in the state was almost similar to its opening day.

Kerala has emerged as another strong market for DC. The film opened there with Rs. 50 lakh but grew steadily over the weekend. After collecting Rs. 2.50 crore on Sunday, it earned Rs. 1.50 crore on Monday. This Monday figure is three times its Day 1 collection. The film has collected Rs. 6.25 crore in Kerala so far.

DC has also recorded good numbers in Karnataka and the Telugu states. AP/TS contributed Rs. 8.50 crore, while Karnataka added Rs. 3.75 crore during the first four days. The remaining Indian markets contributed around Rs. 2 crore.

The film has therefore collected Rs. 30.00 crore gross across India. If the strong weekday trend continues, DC could move towards the Rs. 40 crore mark in its first week and potentially emerge as a Clean Hit at the box office.

DC is also notable because it marks the acting debut of director Lokesh Kanagaraj, making its performance an important milestone in his career.
