Pyaar Prema Kalyanam is set to offer a different take on love, marriage and family relationships when it arrives on Netflix on 21 August. Directed by Elan, the film also marks his acting debut and features Saanvee Meghana in the lead role. The story follows Pavi, played by Saanvee Meghana, a popular influencer who does not want to leave her family home after getting married. Instead of moving into her husband’s house, she decides to continue living with her family. Her husband, played by Elan, moves into her home after the wedding.
This unusual arrangement becomes the starting point for several situations involving the newlyweds and their families. Their decision challenges the usual expectations around marriage and creates differences between the couple and the people around them.
The film explores what happens when a husband and wife decide to build their married life according to their own choices instead of simply following traditional expectations. As they adjust to their new living arrangement, they have to deal with family opinions, cultural differences and the changing expectations that come with marriage.
The story also looks at how couples can discover their own way of being together. While the film has a romantic and humorous setting, it also focuses on family relationships and the idea that there is no single definition of a happy marriage.
Elan is making his acting debut with the film while also serving as its director. His storytelling brings together romance, family situations and comedy. Saanvee Meghana plays the central character of Pavi, whose decision to stay with her family becomes an important part of the story.
The supporting cast includes Radhika Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, M. S. Bhaskar, Geetha Kailasam, Elango Kumaravel, Senthil and Maran. Their characters add to the family situations and provide several moments of humour throughout the story.
The film raises a simple question about marriage: Should one run away to get married, or get married and then run away? The story uses this idea to look at how couples deal with family expectations after saying “I do.”
Pyaar Prema Kalyanam will premiere on Netflix on 21 August. The film presents a newly married couple whose biggest challenge begins after their wedding, when they decide to live together in a way that goes against the usual family tradition.
