After weeks of speculation, Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela starrer with acclaimed director Anurag Basu finally has an official title Tu Meri Zindagi Hai. Originally rumored to be Aashiqui 3, the project has now evolved into a standalone romantic musical, looking to touch the hearts of viewers while maintaining distance from the Aashiqui franchise’s creative and legal ramifications.
A friend in the production informed Mid-Day, “The team wanted to think of a name that reminded them of the past, but wouldn’t lead to any creative or legal issues. Tu Meri Zindagi Hai seemed like the ideal choice.” The title itself is reminiscent of classic Bollywood romance, and the film promises to give a vintage love story composed in Basu’s inimitable style, with a strong emotional core and soulful music.
Now filming in Mumbai, the movie will carry on with its principal photography through to the end of 2025, before patchwork and post-production take place in early 2026. Although early speculation had hinted at a May 2026 release, newer reports from Pinkvilla and Bollywood Hungama state the team has set a December 25, 2025 release date — perhaps creating a huge box office showdown.
That is because Alia Bhatt’s highly anticipated action movie Alpha, featuring Sharvari, is also planning a Christmas 2025 release. If both movies hold the same date, viewers may get to see one of the most high-profile face-offs in recent history — a heartwarming musical romance against a woman-centered action extravaganza. While neither project has made any official announcement, fans and trade pundits are already abuzz with the festive face-off.
Adding to the suspense is the new on-screen combination of Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. The two actors have collaborated for the first time ever, and preliminary industry buzz has appreciated their chemistry together on screen. The movie might be a milestone venture for Sreeleela, who is trying to leave her stamp in mainstream Hindi cinema.

On the other hand, Kartik Aaryan keeps going strong in Bollywood. He can next be seen in Tu Meri Main Tera, Main Tera Tu Meri with Ananya Panday, directed by Sameer Vidwans, out on December 31. He’s also starring in Naagzilla, a fantasy-action movie that is yet another genre change for the versatile actor.
With Tu Meri Zindagi Hai, Anurag Basu, Kartik, and Sreeleela set out to provide a romance classic and quite possibly, rule the Christmas box office.
