HIM Could Be the Most Unsettling Sports Thriller Yet

Jordan Peele’s HIM, starring Tyriq Withers, Marlon Wayans, and Julia Fox, might redefine what a sports horror film can be as it heads to Blu-ray and digital.

It looks like Jordan Peele might have found yet another way to get under our skin. His latest production, HIM, which blends the adrenaline of sports drama with the unease of psychological horror, has officially made its way to digital platforms, and it’s set for a Blu-ray and DVD release on November 11, 2025, through Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.

While we haven’t seen the full film ourselves, early viewers describe HIM as a strange mix of ambition, obsession, and dread. The story reportedly follows Cameron Cade, a rising football star (played by Tyriq Withers) whose promising career comes crashing down after a violent attack. Just when he thinks it’s all over, he’s taken under the wing of his idol, Isaiah White, played by Marlon Wayans, an eight-time champion quarterback who offers to train him at his private estate.

What begins as mentorship soon turns into something darker, and from what’s being hinted at the lines between greatness and madness start to blur fast. Director Justin Tipping (of Kicks and Joe vs. Carole) reportedly pushes the tension beyond the field, transforming a story about athletic pressure into something far more psychological.

Julia Fox, Tim Heidecker, and Jim Jefferies join the cast, and Peele’s production banner, Monkeypaw, is behind it, so it’s safe to expect layers of social commentary wrapped in eerie storytelling.

Those picking up the Blu-ray or 4K release can expect over 45 minutes of bonus content, including an alternate ending, deleted scenes, and featurettes exploring the cast’s intense physical and mental preparation .

Whether HIM is more horror or more psychological thriller remains to be seen, but it’s already being talked about as a film that tests how far someone will go to be “the best.”
