Enrique Iglesias’ Lip-Syncing Blunder: A Concert Con for Mumbai Fans?

Lip-Syncing Fiasco: Enrique Iglesias Faces Backlash from Mumbai Concert Attendees

Spanish pop sensation Enrique Iglesias has come under fire after a viral video from his recent Mumbai concert appeared to show him lip-syncing to his hit track Be With You. The clip, which has been widely shared across social media, sparked disappointment among fans who accused the singer of not performing live.

Enrique, who performed two sold-out shows at MMRDA Grounds on October 29 and 30, returned to India after more than a decade. While his performances were filled with nostalgia as he sang fan favorites like Bailamos, Escape, and Hero, the viral video divided opinions online. Many social media users expressed frustration, with one writing, “Sad to see him lip-syncing,” while another commented, “We waited 13 years for this? He should’ve come in his prime.” Some fans even criticized the audience, saying, “The crowd doesn’t even know the lyrics,” while others called the performance “a waste.”

Despite the backlash, concertgoers described the event as a memorable night of music and nostalgia. Several Bollywood celebrities — including Malaika Arora, Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani, Sonal Chauhan, and Pragya Jaiswal — were seen enjoying the show, singing, and dancing to Enrique’s biggest hits.

In the midst of the controversy, reports suggest that Enrique Iglesias will attend Shah Rukh Khan’s intimate pre-birthday bash at his Mumbai residence, Mannat, ahead of the superstar’s 60th birthday on November 2. The exclusive dinner will reportedly include close friends such as Karan Johar and Rani Mukerji-Aditya Chopra, with Enrique expected to skip other public events to attend the celebration.

Interestingly, Enrique isn’t the first international artist to face such criticism in India — Justin Bieber was similarly trolled for lip-syncing during his 2017 concert in Mumbai, leaving fans feeling shortchanged after paying premium ticket prices.
