Pooja Bhatt team up with Jitendra Kumar for Kabootar-Baazi India’s age-old pigeon-flying tradition

Jitendra Kumar and Pooja Bhatt to Lead Film Rooted in India’s Age-Old Pigeon-Flying Tradition, Produced by Khyati Madaan and Co-Produced by Hitesh Kewalya

Jitendra Kumar is all set to headline an upcoming film alongside Pooja Bhatt, delving into the culturally rich and rarely explored world of kabootar-baazi — India’s traditional art of pigeon flying. The film promises a heartfelt, human story set against this vibrant backdrop, offering a glimpse into a vanishing practice deeply rooted in Indian heritage.

Known for his acclaimed performances in Panchayat, Kota Factory, Jaadugar, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan, and the recent Bhagwat: Chapter One – Raakshas, Jitendra will portray a passionate kabootarbaaz. The role marks another transformative chapter in his career, blending emotional authenticity with a socially grounded narrative.

Joining him is National Award-winning actress Pooja Bhatt, who plays his on-screen mother. The film marks her return to an intimate, character-driven role reminiscent of her powerful performances in Zakhm, Tamanna, and Daddy.

The yet-untitled project is produced by Khyati Madaan under her banner Not Out Entertainment, with Hitesh Kewalya — writer of Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and writer-director of Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan — serving as co-producer. The film is written and directed by Bilal Hasan, whose award-winning short Chupchaap earned a Filmfare nomination. This will mark Hasan’s feature directorial debut.

Set amid the rooftops and narrow lanes of old Indian neighbourhoods, the story unfolds within the traditional kabootar-baazi community — where homing pigeons symbolize not just sport but legacy, pride, and emotional connection. While the world is unique, the film’s essence remains deeply human and universal. Filming begins next year.

Not Out Entertainment continues to back bold, original cinema. Following its upcoming romantic horror-comedy Abhootpurva, the banner is also producing a horror film inspired by a real-life national tragedy starring Ahan Shetty, reinforcing its reputation for creating genre-bending, story-driven films.
