The Khan family got together in a cozy and intimate celebration when veteran screenwriter Salim Khan and wife Salma Khan celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary on November 18. This milestone event was hosted at Sohail Khan’s residence and saw close relatives reunite for a quiet evening filled with affection, nostalgia, and family togetherness.
Various pictures and videos of the celebration showed that the party was compact, intimate, and a really close-knit affair of the family for years now. One of the first to arrive at the party was Helen, Salim Khan’s second wife, looking elegant in her black ethnic avatar. The yesteryear dancing queen waved at the paparazzi with her characteristic grace before heading inside to join the party.
Salim Khan, who is celebrated for having written classics like Sholay, Zanjeer, and Deewar, married Salma Khan, then Sushila Charak, in 1964. They have five children: Salman, Arbaaz, Sohail, Alvira, and Arpita. In 1981, Salim Khan took Helen as his wife and over the years, she has become an intrinsic part of the Khan family. She was seen mingling warmly during the anniversary gathering of the family members, sharing a close rapport with everyone.
The evening saw some prominent faces arriving to offer their wishes. These included Salman Khan, Alvira Agnihotri with husband Atul Agnihotri and their daughter Alizeh Agnihotri, Vatsal Sheth and Ishita Dutta, Zaheer Iqbal and Sonakshi Sinha, Daboo Malik and Salman’s brother-in-law Aayush Sharma. Salman’s long-time bodyguard Shera also arrived, with his son Abir Singh in tow.

Helen has had a career in Bollywood that started over six decades ago and still continues to be one of Bollywood’s most famous tales. Born in Myanmar, she started out as a background dancer for Raj Kapoor’s Awaara, 1951, but it was the iconic “Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu” from Howrah Bridge (1958) that made her an overnight sensation. With over 600 films to her credit, and a glittering career in movies such as Gumnaam, Jewel Thief, Caravan, among others, she became synonymous with grace and unbridled dance talent. In 2009, she was awarded the Padma Shri, joining the ranks of Bollywood legends.
