Munawar Faruqui’s Privacy Breached: Comedian Reveals Shocking Details About Phone Number Leak!

Comedian in Crisis! Munawar Faruqui Speaks Out About the Consequences of His Phone Number Getting Leaked

Comedian Munawar Faruqui recently became the centre of online chatter after reports surfaced that his personal phone number had been leaked. Fans and well-wishers flooded him with calls and messages, expressing concern over his privacy and safety. Now, Munawar has finally addressed the situation, revealing that the supposed leak was not accidental at all—but part of a planned promotional strategy.

On Wednesday, the comedian took to Instagram Stories to clarify the confusion. In his message, he explained that his phone number had not been leaked. Instead, it was a marketing initiative devised for his Amazon MX Player series First Copy. Munawar shared, “Hi doston, mereko bohot messages aa rahe hain ki aapka number leak ho gaya hai. In reality, MX Player ki marketing genius team ne plan kiya tha ki kahin number leak karenge, toh phir calls aayenge aur usme sabko First Copy ka promotion jayega.” He revealed he received more than 20,000 calls and 11,000 messages in a short span of time, so much so that Meta ended up blocking the WhatsApp account linked to that number. Munawar thanked everyone for their concern and affection, reassuring fans that there had been no real privacy breach.

First Copy is set in 1990s Mumbai and follows the story of Arif, a daring, street-smart man who rises to become the city’s most notorious film pirate. During an era before strict anti-piracy laws and digital streaming, Arif discovers a lucrative loophole—distributing illegal copies of Bollywood films. His growing underground network and ability to deliver first-day film copies earn him the nickname “First Copy.” The series blends crime, drama, and nostalgia for the pre-digital film era.
