For actor Jatin Sarna, life has come full circle in the most cinematic way possible. Best known for his breakout role in Sacred Games, Sarna is now stepping into one of the most exciting phases of his career — playing the antagonist opposite his lifelong idol, Rajinikanth, in the much-awaited sequel Jailer 2.
Calling the opportunity nothing short of destiny, Sarna describes it as a manifestation that doubled itself. Years before he ever shared screen space with the superstar, he had placed a framed image of Rajinikanth from the film Kaala above the door in his living room. The image bore the iconic phrase “Kya Re,” serving as a daily source of inspiration and motivation.
That inspiration translated into reality when Sarna first worked with Rajinikanth in Darbar. Now, returning to share screen space again in Jailer 2, the actor believes the journey feels like a surreal extension of that dream — a moment that reaffirms his faith in perseverance and belief.
Growing up watching Rajinikanth’s films, Sarna developed a deep admiration for the superstar’s screen presence and storytelling power. He recalls having countless memories tied to Rajinikanth’s performances, which shaped his own aspirations as an actor.
Working in South Indian cinema has also broadened Sarna’s artistic horizons. During his time on these projects, he not only gained exposure to a different film industry but also picked up the Tamil language. To his surprise, his efforts were noticed and appreciated by colleagues who complimented his adaptability.
Rumours have circulated about Shah Rukh Khan possibly being involved in Jailer 2, but Sarna maintains he has no knowledge of such developments. Having completed his portion of the shoot, he prefers not to speculate on casting beyond his own experience.
While working alongside Rajinikanth marks a major milestone, Sarna’s journey has not been without its challenges. Despite receiving praise for his performances over the years, he admits it took time for meaningful opportunities to come his way.
Now, the tide appears to be turning. Sarna has recently taken on the lead role in the independent film Na Jaane Kaun Aa Gaya, a romantic triangle directed by Vikas Arora. He is also set to appear opposite Madhuri Dixit in filmmaker Suresh Triveni’s upcoming project Maa Behen. Additionally, he is preparing to wrap Gandhari, directed by Debashish Makhija, alongside Taapsee Pannu and Ishwaq Singh.
On the digital front, Sarna awaits the release of MOMACU – Motor, Machis Aur Cutter, where he once again takes on a lead role.
Even as new opportunities emerge, Sarna remains candid about the emotional ups and downs of his career. His appearance in Sikandar (2025) alongside Salman Khan, directed by A. R. Murugadoss, was expected to be a major turning point. However, the film’s underwhelming reception left him questioning his choices.
Rather than giving in to disappointment, Sarna chose to reflect and push forward. He emphasises his commitment to being selective about his projects, preferring meaningful roles over visibility alone.
For Sarna, success is no longer defined by scale but by substance. Whether through independent cinema or mainstream collaborations, he aims to bring authenticity to every role.
With Jailer 2 placing him opposite his childhood hero once again, Jatin Sarna’s journey stands as a testament to resilience — proof that sometimes, dreams do return, bigger and bolder.
