Filmmaker Rohit Shetty has finally responded to the recent controversy surrounding reports that his private cars were using police stickers and flashing lights. These reports had raised questions, as such markings are usually allowed only on official police vehicles under the law.
According to his team, the situation has been misunderstood. They explained that the stickers and lights were not being used to misuse authority, but were part of temporary security arrangements. This step was taken after a serious incident earlier this year, when shots were fired outside Rohit Shetty’s residence in February. Following this, the police increased his security and took extra precautions to ensure his safety.
A spokesperson from his team clarified that the identification stickers were placed on his vehicles during the initial phase of this heightened security. These were meant to help security personnel easily identify his cars. However, they also confirmed that these stickers have now been completely removed and are no longer in use.
The team also shared that Rohit Shetty is still under police protection. At present, two police personnel have been assigned for his safety, and the situation continues to be closely monitored. They also expressed their gratitude to the Mumbai Police for their support during this difficult time.
The controversy began when reports claimed that at least two of Rohit Shetty’s SUVs had police style markings and flashing lights. This led to concerns that it might be a violation of the Motor Vehicles Act. However, his team has now made it clear that there was no intention to break any rules, and the measures were only temporary.
The firing incident itself was reportedly linked to threats, with a gang claiming responsibility. This had led Rohit Shetty to request additional security, especially considering he is currently busy with his upcoming film project.
He is presently working on Golmaal 5, which stars actors like Ajay Devgn and Akshay Kumar. The film is being shot in Mumbai, and the team is taking all necessary precautions to ensure a safe working environment.
With this clarification, Rohit Shetty’s team hopes to put an end to the confusion and reassure everyone that all actions taken were purely for safety reasons.
