Janhvi Kapoor Opens Up On Sridevi Facing Harsh Criticism

Janhvi Kapoor speaks about the criticism Sridevi faced and the emotional impact of losing her mother, calling it the biggest trauma of her life.

Janhvi Kapoor recently spoke about the challenges her mother, Sridevi, faced during her lifetime. She shared that Sridevi was often judged harshly and was even called a “homewrecker,” which affected her emotionally.

During a conversation with Raj Shamani, Janhvi explained that she had seen how public opinion can sometimes be very harsh. She said that while people tend to speak more kindly about someone after they are gone, the criticism Sridevi faced while she was alive had a strong impact on her.

Janhvi also spoke about losing her mother in 2018, which happened just a few months before her first film Dhadak was released. She described this loss as the biggest trauma of her life. She also mentioned that dealing with such a personal loss in the public eye made it even more difficult.

After her mother’s passing, Janhvi said she had to grow up quickly. She went from depending on her mother to making important life decisions on her own. During this time, she also faced public attention and criticism related to her family. She admitted that she made some mistakes by trusting certain people, which affected her mental and physical well being.

Talking about her mother, Janhvi said that her absence created a deep emotional gap. She shared that she not only lost her mother but also lost the version of her father, Boney Kapoor, that existed when Sridevi was alive. She also said she misses her mother’s humour and the role she played in holding the family together.

When asked how her mother might see her today, Janhvi said that she has changed and developed her own opinions, which may not always match her mother’s views. She admitted that she is not sure how their conversations would be if Sridevi were still alive.

She also shared what she would say to her mother if given a chance. She expressed understanding and regret for not fully recognising her mother’s struggles earlier in life. She noted that Sridevi started working at a very young age but mostly shared only positive experiences with her children.

Recalling an old interview, Janhvi said, “I have seen that journey. People were not very kind when she was around. They called her a homewrecker and all the cruel things. It played on her mind and made her feel a certain way, but history is kind to people who have passed.”

Sridevi’s personal life was also discussed, as Boney Kapoor was earlier married to Mona Kapoor and had two children, Arjun Kapoor and Anshula Kapoor, before marrying her. Together, Boney and Sridevi raised Janhvi and her sister Khushi Kapoor.

Overall, Janhvi’s comments highlight the emotional challenges faced by her mother and the impact it had on their family.
