Imtiaz Ali Breaks Silence On Jab We Met 2 And Tamasha 2

Imtiaz Ali says he has no plans for Jab We Met 2 or Tamasha 2, explaining why he prefers original storytelling over sequels.

Imtiaz Ali is known for making films that focus on love and personal journeys. Some of his popular films include Jab We Met, Rockstar, Tamasha, and Love Aaj Kal. These films are still liked by many people even today.

The director is currently busy promoting his upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga. During a recent interview, he spoke about whether he plans to make sequels to Jab We Met and Tamasha. Both films are popular among audiences. Jab We Met starred Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor Khan, while Tamasha featured Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone.

Imtiaz Ali said that he does not have plans to make sequels to these films. He mentioned his experience with Love Aaj Kal, which starred Kartik Aaryan and Sara Ali Khan. The film did not do well with audiences or at the box office.

He said, “I do keep hearing about it. To those who ask me about them, I say, ‘Love Aaj Kal 2 bhi toh banayi thi na, voh toh itni achhi nahi gayi.’ I feel that if there’s something that comes that strongly to me as a maker, then I will.” He further added, “But I don’t think, especially for Jab We Met, I won’t. Some things are best left untouched.”

He also spoke about how he approaches filmmaking. Imtiaz Ali explained that he does not like to plan films just to earn money or treat them as business decisions. According to him, making a good film requires a real connection with the story. He believes filmmakers should focus on telling stories they truly care about rather than thinking only about results.

His upcoming film Main Vaapas Aaunga features Diljit Dosanjh, Sharvari, Vedang Raina, and Naseeruddin Shah. The film is scheduled to release on June 12.
