The film Dacoit: Ek Prem Katha, directed by Shaneil Deo, has made a decent start at the box office after its release on Friday. Starring Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur and Anurag Kashyap, the film managed to cross ₹20 crore net in India within its first few days. While the movie performed well over the weekend, it saw a drop in collections on Monday, which is a common trend for most films after the initial buzz.
According to early reports, the film collected around ₹2.01 crore on its first Monday. This brought its total domestic collection to ₹21.81 crore. The dip was expected since weekdays usually see fewer people going to theatres compared to weekends. Despite this, the film has maintained a steady pace so far and continues to attract audiences.
Looking at its daily performance, Dacoit opened with ₹6.55 crore on Friday. It showed slight growth on Saturday with ₹6.85 crore and remained stable on Sunday with ₹6.40 crore. These numbers indicate that the film had a consistent weekend run, even though it did not see a huge jump in collections. Interestingly, the Telugu version of the film seems to be performing better than the Hindi version, even though both were shot at the same time.
With its current total crossing ₹20 crore, the film is expected to soon beat the lifetime collection of Adivi Sesh’s previous film HIT The Second Case, which earned ₹25.92 crore in India. However, it still has a long way to go if it wants to surpass Major, another successful film of Sesh, which collected ₹41.03 crore domestically.
Dacoit has been directed by Shaneil Deo, who also co wrote the film along with Adivi Sesh. It is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda under Annapurna Studios. The film also features actors like Prakash Raj, Sunil, Zayn Marie Khan and Atul Kulkarni in important roles. After its release, the film received mixed reactions from both audiences and critics.
Actor Nani, who worked with Adivi Sesh earlier, shared his thoughts about the film on social media. He praised the movie and called it a blockbuster filled with emotion. He also appreciated Sesh’s performance and said it was his best work so far. Nani also had kind words for Mrunal Thakur and the entire team, praising the direction, music and visuals. The film’s release was earlier planned for March but was delayed due to strong competition from another big release at the box office.
